During the Civil War Frank Leslie, born Henry Carter, published a weekly newspaper containing illustrations of the various battles after they took place. Unfortunately he died before his name really made money. His second wife had her name legally changed to Frank Leslie after his death and began marketing the images from his Frank Leslie's Illustrated weekly newspaper in the form of a two volume set of books - "The Soldier in Our Civil War."
